Jung's discoveries force us to confront some realities that go beyond our common sense. In fact, the current language does not often provide the appropriate terms to describe the concepts proposed by Jung. In addition, due to the rationalistic and consent of the psychic structures in force in our society, our experiences are rare metapsychical, relegated to the rank of oddities of no importance. This explains the difficulty of understanding with which he clashed the thesis of the great Swiss psychoanalyst, and the confusion of which were subject to the basics he used. These concepts are:
- the archetype: it is not a symbol or a prototype of thought in the ordinary sense, but an archaic form of thought-emotion, an expression of transcendent energy, existing in our consciousness, and that comes to us via metapsychical.
- numinous energy: it is psychic energy, or more exactly metapsychical, highly differentiated carrier of information (more complex than our logical-mathematical), which is expressed in the form of archetypes through insights , dreams and visions, and who has the task of leading our lives and make sense.
- the collective unconscious: it is an example of structures or knowledge common to the individuals of a society, but the plan is metapsychical in itself, that an additional space, a place of numinous archetypes and energy that transcends ordinary space-time.
- paranormal visions: not to be confused with pathological hallucinations, are ESP flow of information from this additional space, are always charged with numinous energy, whether it's symbolic visions, whether this is true visions "remote", familiar to most parapsychologists.
- spirituality: it is a sum of dogmas, beliefs and moral principles learned, but is that part of the inner life that is built into the domain of energy and that binds us to the numinous world of archetypes, namely to Divinity.
- dissociation it means losing the original interior of the unit as a result of destructive tendencies due to the removal of archetypal energies or instincts, which means separating different compartments of psychic reality.
- the discovery process: it consists in restoring the original unity of the Psyche (piano mental and metapsychical) through the interpretation of dream symbols or reproduction of archetypal behavior, especially of children, unless the problem has yet to find a fully satisfactory solution.
first disciple of Freud, Carl Gustav Jung (1875-1961) distanced himself from his master was excessive because his views on sexual libido. He then devoted to the study of the unconscious and archaic symbols of different traditions. His comments forced him to admit the existence of phenomena that can not be explained by the ordinary laws of space-time (so-called phenomena "psi"). With the Swiss Pauli, Nobel prize physics, formulated a theory with which he tried to explain these phenomena, and especially developed the concepts of archetypes and collective unconscious, which places them in the context of spiritual evolution.
While stressing the insufficiency of a purely intellectual understanding, inner alien experience, Jung described the archetypes as an image and emotion at the same time, that is laden with symbolic entities "numinosity", revealed to the conscious form of intuition, of dreams and visions. This numinosity, or psychic energy, is the bearer of information that organizes our psyche, giving spiritual meaning to our lives and directing the development of our psyche. The loss or removal of these numinous energy has incalculable consequences, such as neurosis, aberration, the desecration, the despiritualizzazione, the domination of evil instincts, materialism and the tyranny of the intellect, the inner contradictions, the fragmentation of psyche, dissociation, confusion, social problems continue to rise.
Jung, while stressing the importance of the loss of contact with this world "psi", does not seem to have considered the relationship between access to this world and sexuality, perhaps because of his opposition to Freud and of his thesis. This gap explains the slowness with which Jung had to proceed, since the amount of living material which dispose of, Gleanings of dreams and visions of his patients was rare.
However, Jung has the merit of having been able to leave with a rigorous method of organic and materialist reductionism but still weighs like a yoke on the science and psychology classic, very slow in assimilating the discoveries of this type. Even more significant is the fact that, although it was started from a perfectly conventional rationalism, has come to rehabilitate certain phenomena that were discredited at the time, calling into question not only the scientific knowledge and ancient beliefs spirituality, but the very meaning of existence and humanity's future.
Jung gives the concept of instinct, he echoes that of Archetype, a very high, ranging from animal functions until the dynamic pattern of the spiritual life (the Oedipus complex, for example, all ghosts of its scenes and its primary energy, is also an archetype). Obeying the instincts, they are not disturbed, does not mean trying to pull the animal, but instead consciously accept the physical and spiritual totality of human destiny. Deny, however, means arise in contradiction with the sacred forces that go beyond our understanding, fall into the inner dissociation, enjoy a freedom that is charged with the sale of our existence. The denial of the surreal and the divine (for more irrational and unprovable as much as their claim free) and the diversion of energies "psi" from its end bring us to the spiritual malaise and general neurosis, the cultural and moral disintegration, the political discord and the collective suicide. All this for the pleasure of prostrate to the Goddess of Reason and Science cling desperately to a short-lived.
summary, Jung has explored the world of archetypes and phenomena "psi", denouncing the pathogenic consequences of the loss of contact with these primordial values. But what solution you suggest? Here is a passage from his "Essay on the exploration of the unconscious" : "As any change must begin somewhere, it is the isolated individual who he has the vision and carry it out. This change can take root only in ' individual, and can occur in any one of us. No one can afford to wait, looking around for someone to accomplish what you do not want to do. Unfortunately, it seems that nobody knows what to do, perhaps it would be worthwhile for someone to ask himself, wondering if the unconscious does not know maybe something that might be useful to everyone. " "We are so fascinated, so absorbed from our subjective consciousness that we have forgotten the fact, already known for millennia, that God speaks particularly through dreams and visions. The Buddhist rejects the ghosts produced by the unconscious as useless illusions. The Christian puts the Church and its Bible between him and the unconscious. The rationalist does not know that consciousness is not always the psyche. "
His wise counsel that is worthy of serious consideration, especially because today parapsychology, in perfect accord with the fundamental physics, has now demonstrated scientifically objective reality of paranormal phenomena, as say our esteemed Piero Angela.
Ultimately, however, Jung did not respond to a crucial question: why did we lose contact with the "primordial values"?
