The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters Paolo Cortesi

14/11/2008
Try to imagine being locked in a room, not too large, in the midst of many people. Imagine not just a ten people you're hitting with sticks, batons, you break your face (literally, the flesh is opened, the blood spurts like blown away, the bone flaps open and the Glimmers shimmer of blood running, which soaks the clothes) . Imagine being crushed like a worm, literally: cold and wet feel the sole of the boot that presses with fury after hearing the findings of the sole imprint like nails on your flesh.
Imagine getting many kicks in the belly until you leave the ground fainting inert as a bundle, that the furious series of kicks thrown here and there, until hitting the wall.
Imagine that the person who beats you're laughing, shouting words against you, insults you with a hatred that terrifies you, because you have never done anything against the individual who is inflicting so much pain.
Imagine being taken away, torn, bleeding, terrified, confused, not an ambulance, but by the same individuals who have killed and taken away as a dangerous offender as guilty as suspected of bad things. And you into a barracks, where even a bloody and devastating blows, you will be subjected to insults, threats, harassment, abuse of power.
And now imagine that you no longer have thoughts, emotions, reactions, stimuli. You are the only body mass that bears your name. For sixteen years you are not a person but only a human body forced just unconscious biological functions. You have no ideas or memories, you have no desires or fears. You are a mass of organic instruments and medical techniques - unknown a few decades ago - continue to maintain a life of only saline.
In the first case (people massacred and tortured) life should not seem so sacred, because human beings have felt entitled to beat, stomp, torture, massacre.
In the second case (the only vegetative existence), many lives is inviolable, and let the death to resume its course in a body no longer really alive is called murder.
